Acupressure is a technique using fingertip pressure on acupoints to help the body return to balance and relieve stress. Acupoints are found along meridians, or energy channels of the body's energy, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. The flow of energy through these channels can become disrupted or blocked and acupressure works gently to restore the flow.
Acupressure does not require the removal of the client's clothing, is very safe to practice, and is especially beneficial to relieve pain, tension, stress, constipation, and even menstrual cramps. To read about the latest research studies on the effectiveness of acupressure for different conditions, please see my Research page. If you choose to receive an acupressure session, I'll ask you to remove your shoes and lay on your back on the massage table, and will ensure you're comfortable. I'll then apply fingertip pressure to different acupoints in a sequence to best meet your treatment goals. My fingertips will rest on the points for a short time before moving on to another point. After the session you should feel more relaxed and possibly even reflective.
